Rhode Island's 2014 Statewide Self-Advocacy Conference is called Power UP. This will be Rhode Island's 19th Annual Statewide Self-Advocacy Conference!

Power UP takes place on Thursday October 30th at the Crown Plaza, 801 Greenwich Ave in Warwick.

** Registration check-in runs from 8:15am-9:15am.

** Be sure to arrive before 8:45am for a chance to enter our Early Bird Raffle and win some great prizes during the Luncheon Awards Ceremony!

** Opening Ceremonies run 9:30am-10:45am

** The morning workshop runs 11:00am-12:00noon. CLICK HERE to see the 6 PRESENTATIONS available at this time.

** Lunch is at 12:15pm-1:30pm

** Afternoon workshops run from 1:45pm-2:45pm. CLICK HERE to see the 6 PRESENTATIONS available at this time.

** The "Power Hour Plus" runs from 3:00pm-5:00pm. CLICK HERE to see what's going on during POWER HOUR PLUS!

For those who are registered for the conference day, we hope you will make plans to stay until 5:00pm and join us for Power Hour Plus, which includes interactive and entertaining worshops, free resources, dancing, face painting, games and afternoon refreshments

** The Evening Dinner Dance and Costume Pary runs from 6:00pm-10:00pm. Tickets for the dance must be purchased in advance. Those who have purchased tickets for the evening only may check-in to register at 5:30pm.

This theme of this year is about being empowered and empowering others. Join people who have a developmental disability, families, support staff, students, teachers, advocates and allies to talk, learn and share about what it means to be EMPOWERED.

SOME OF THE TOPICS FOR THE DAY INCLUDE: Informed Decision Making, Real Jobs, Voting, Public Transportation, Hiring and Supervising Staff, Assertiveness, Being Safe, Interpersonal Skills, Individual Support Plans, Tokenism, How to Say "NO", Respect, Voices and Choices, Personal Stories of Empowerment.

Please Note: Everyone who is attending the conference must register and send in a separate form so we receive one form per person. If you are coming to the conference and bringing a support person with you, you should send us a registration form and your support person should also send us a form. Please do not use just one form to register both of you! Thanks for your help with this!



HOTEL RESERVATIONS

Hotel Registrations were due Thursday, October 9th. For those of you who are staying at the hotel, note that the check-in time is 4:00pm. Advocates in Action RI CANNOT STORE YOUR LUGGAGE FOR YOU!

Please call the Crowne Plaza reservation desk at 401-732-6000 if you need to, and/or make other plans to store your luggage until the 4:00pm check-in.
