In 2007 the RI Division of Developmental Disabilities sent out a "Request for Ideas." They asked people who receive services, family members, services agencies, and advocacy organizations for ideas about how to improve the service system that supports adults who have a developmental disability in Rhode Island.

Advocates in Action hosted several meetings to ask Self-Advocates what they would do, or not do, to make to the system better. We worked together with 2 family advocacy organizations (PAL and the RI Parent Information Network), who also hosted some meetings to ask family members for their ideas.

We collected this information and created a printed report and a video slide show. We submitted this material to the Division of Developmental Disabilities and we are also sharing it here on our website.
