The Advocates in Action Leadership Graduate Academy
We designed the Graduate Academy to build on the foundations of Self-Awareness, Self-Determination, and Self-Advocacy that students learned about during Partners-RI (1995-2001) and the Leadership Series (2002-present). We'll be doing this by offering a series of short courses that expand on the topics that were introduced in previous classes. Each co urse will consist of approximately 4 classes that meet once or twice a week.
The Academy will be a new experience for all of us. The individual courses are much shorter than either Partners-RI or the Leadership Series, and there will be fewer students in each of them.
We'll also be teaching all of the courses online.
While the pandemic forced all of us to stay home, it also helped us come to appreciate the benefits of virtual learning! After seeing our last 3 Leadership Series classes participate and graduate using the Zoom Video App, we’re confident that remote teaching and learning will open up a whole new world of opportunities and connections that are just a few mouse clicks away.
As a side note, remote learning also means you won’t need to miss a class if you can’t find a ride or there’s snow on the ground!
If you’ve never used Zoom before, we’ve got you covered because that’s one of the courses we’ll be offering! Our team of Peer Mentors will also be available to meet with you 1:1 to help you learn more about the App so you’ll be ready and prepared to participate.
While we expect a few speed bumps along the way as we get started, we're excited about the possibilities, and look forward to zeeing you soon!

Our Graduate Academy Open House took place on Tuesday, November 30th from 1:00-2:00 pm
The Academy is a new opportunity for graduates of Partners-RI (1996-2001) and the Leadership Series (2002 to present) to build upon what they learned during their time with us!
We offer Academy courses for members in the Spring and Fall, and continue to add new topics all the time!
You only need to complete this form once. You won't need to do it again every time we offer a new course!
