The RI Department of Behavioral Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Hospital (BHDDH), publishes a weekly bulletin called DD News and Updates. BHDDH originally created this resources to meet the need for information about how the Coronavirus was affecting DD Services in our state. Since then, they've expanded the publication to cover additional topics and address other issues related to the Rhode Island DD Community.
While we didn't create the materials on this page, we're sharing DD News and Updates, along with other resources listed below, as part of our mission to empower people who have an Intellectual/Developmental Disability to speak-up for themselves and others. Information is power and people need equal access to the facts to be part of the solution. Remember: Nothing about Us without Us!

Information about Individualized Service Plans (ISPs)
March 19th, 2020: Interim Individualized Service Plan (ISP)
In order to comply with the Medicaid requirement for a signed plan every 365 days, BHDDH has
developed this Affirmation Form for individuals who assert that their current plan
continues to meet their needs. In other words, you can use this form during the pandemic to continue your current ISP, instead of writing a whole new plan.
*IMPORTANT* You and your support team should only complete this form if you want to continue using your current plan. If your current plan does not reflect your goals, interests, and needs, you need to submit a new plan before the expiration date for your current ISP.
BHDDH encourages individuals and plan writers to follow recommendations from the RI Department of Health
and the Center for Disease Control (CDC). Some those recommendations include using alternative communication methods to gather input and discuss any changes you want to make as you re-write or update your ISP. For example, consider having a conference call with your team, sending material in the mail or by fax, and using Skype, Microsoft Teams, Zoom or other video platforms to meet virtually instead of getting together in person.
