Individualized Budgets Public Information Session

During this online meeting, presenters from the Division of Developmental Disabilities at BHDDH shared information about upcoming changes in the RI DD Service System, including Individualized Budgets, Changes in some Service Definitions, and New Services that will be available in the coming months.

Question 1: Can you add-on money on different types of Employment Services, or do you need to make a separate request for each one?

Question 2: Will Employment Add-On Services be constantly changing throughout a person’s Plan Year based on their Employment Status and Service needs?

Question 3: Can the Flexible Budget be used to pay Self-Directed Workers for Transportations For example, can it be used to pay for gas money?

Question 4: Do you pay for Community-Based Supports at the 1:1 Rate differently than how you pay for that Service with the Group Rate?

Question 5: How difficult will it be to shift money, if needed, for different Services?

Question 6: Can an Agency bill separately for Transportation if they’re transporting an individual they support to and from another Service they provide?

Question 7: Will these questions and answers be available in a format that we can download and print?

Question 8: What will the Assistive Technology Service cover?

Question 9: How will the State pay for training on how to use certain types of Assistive Technology, such as a Communication Device, for someone who lives in a Group Home?

Question 10: Why is the State paying through the DD Service System for a Service that’s covered by Health Insurance?

Question 11: Will the Professional Services that I can put in my ISP include going to a Chiropractor?

Question 12: We Self-Direct and my son requires a lot of accommodations, such as elastic shoelaces and special toothbrushes, to help him reach his goal of maintaining his independence. Can he put these in his plan?

Question 13: To confirm: all individuals who Self-Direct will have to select Support Brokage, Fiscal Intermediary, & a Plan Writer. How will a participant and their Support select a provider for these fixed services?

Question 14: Will all individuals who are currently established with a Fiscal Intermediary and Plan Writer be able to remain with them?
